Jägermeister is a German herbal-spice liqueur with a characteristic bittersweet taste, containing 38% alcohol. The recipe for this liquor was developed by Curt Mast in 1934 after many years of experimentation. The liqueur is made by maceration in spirit of 56 different herbs and spices, including thyme, chamomile, sandalwood, saffron, ginger, rosemary, blueberry, basil, parsley, and cinnamon. The maceration process takes place in oak barrels and takes about a year. The macerate is then filtered, diluted with water and alcohol, and seasoned with caramel.
Jägermeister Manifest is the first super-premium beverage in the brand’s history. Unlike the original Jägermeister, the Manifest contains additional herbal ingredients and the macerating process in the spirit has been extended by an additional 12 months, now lasting a year and a half. It is best served well chilled, it is ideal as an aperitif.
