By creating the Gulden Draak Smoked, we go back to the ancient tradition of drying malt: smoked malt. This resulted in a smoked malt aftertaste, which could later also be found in beer. This typical smoky taste has been lost over the years as malt drying techniques have become much more efficient. The use of smoked malt in combination with the specialty of the Van Steenberge Brewery gives a spectacular result: a strong, quality top-fermented beer with refermentation in a bottle, baptized as Gulden Draak Smoked. The smoked malt in the recipe gives the beer a velvety, soft-roasted taste.
