As the name suggests, Chimay Gold has an intense and attractive golden hue, with a tight, creamy head. Its aromas combine a wide range of fresh spicy and floral notes with an emphasis on citrus and fiery cloves. Its taste is well rounded with a wonderfully sweet sensation in the mouth and a perfectly balanced bitter taste. The lower alcohol content of Chimay Gold in no way weakens its taste, distinguished by the joyful scent of refreshing coriander and refined hops. Its spicy taste holds well in a light dry aftertaste, which is the perfect conclusion to this sublime tasting experience.
Chimay Gold goes perfectly with all Chimay cheeses, but especially with Vieux Chimay.
Although it is primarily a bottled beer, this unusual fermented beer is also available on tap – but only in elite inns. About twenty pubs and cafes have met the brewery’s strict criteria, making it proudly serving Chimay’s triple topflight. Search and enjoy.

In 1966, Brother Théodore created the “capsule blanche”, now better known as the Chimay Triple. Unlike the dark Chimay Rouge and Chimay Bleue, the “white Chimay” presents a dry and hoppy character. These three really are the drunk proof of the complex art of brewing. It has a mainly dry character, enhanced by a floral and fruity note, which brings to mind a delicious dry white wine.
In later times, the denomination “blanche” was changed to “triple” to avoid confusion with Belgian white beers (“witbieren”). The 500th anniversary of the city of Chimay – celebrated in 1986 – was the perfect opportunity to promote Blanc in the 75 cl format and decorate it with the quite appropriate name “Cinq Cents”.
PRODUCENT - Chimay
In the summer of 1850, a small group of monks settled on the wild Scourmont Plateau near Chimay. A farm, a brewery and a cheese factory were established around the monastery. Scourmont Abbey has developed a variety of economic activities, enabling an increase in regional employment.
