WESTMALLE DUBBEL, FRUITY AND FULL IN THE MOUTH
Westmalle Dubbel is a dark red-brown beer with a rich, complex flavor due to the secondary fermentation in the bottle. You can feel accents of caramel, malt and fruit esters reminiscent of ripe bananas. The beer pearls under a layer of thick, creamy foam. When emptyed inside the glass, a beautiful lace pattern is formed. The long, dry finish to this balanced, mild Trappist beer will stay with you.
TRAPPIST OR DUBBEL?
In 1865, the monks of Westmalle began brewing dark Trappist beer in addition to table beer. In 1926. They adjusted the recipe, doubling the amount of raw ingredients to produce a new, stronger beer. Dubbel is the logical name for this double beer, although more often it is simply called “trappist”. To this day, the recipe from 1926. is the basis of the Westmalle Dubbel.

PRODUCENT - Westmalle
The full name of the abbey is the Abbey of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Westmalle. The community was founded in 1794 by monks of the Cistercian Order of Strict Observation and received the status of abbey in 1836. The monks of this order are commonly known as Trappists, after the abbey of La Trappe in France. From the end of the 18th century, the monks of Westmalle Abbey devoted themselves to a common life of prayer and work.
