They still sometimes appear during the holiday season, when it is worth adding something sour and fresh to the Christmas menu. Hardly anyone remembers that it used to be a dessert variety…

Red Reneta is also called Kaiser Wilhelm is an ideal apple for preserves, pies, compotes. Our best “homemade” cider was made from Czerwona Reneta – dry, and its aroma resembled the smell of fresh apple pie with cinnamon! Imagine a sweet liquid apple pie. We’re still trying to recreate this recipe – we’re sure to come up with it again someday. That’s why every time we have a “renet” year – we try to recreate this cider.

Renetas are a good variety for cider production. In her book “Cider from Polish apples”, oenologist Agnieszka Wyrobek-Rousseau points to renetas as varieties that are ideal for obtaining cider in our climate. What decides? Certainly, many of you will be surprised by the fact that it is an apple with the highest sugar content among the varieties popular in Poland, because it is commonly considered to be a sour apple. This is due to the equally high content of organic acids, which cover this high sweetness. In addition, the slight tartness gives the resulting cider a solid structure.

Cider Smykan is the work of the four founders of the Slow Flow Group. Wyspowy, as the name refers, is created in the Beskid Wyspowy in the agritourism of the Lorków family - Koziarnia. For the production of this cider, apple juice from old apple varieties - ruby, melanoza, eliza and champion was used. The cider is dry, undergoes double fermentation (the second takes place in the bottle), is unpasteurized and naturally cloudy.
