THE BALVENIE Single Malt Scotch Whisky Aged 12 Years DOUBLE WOOD 40% 0.7L

The DoubleWood 12 was launched in 1993, using a process designed by our Malt Master David Stewart in 1982, now commonly known as “wood finishing”.

To make The Balvenie DoubleWood, David Stewart MBE takes whiskey that has spent at least 12 years in traditional whiskey casks, American Oak bourbon casks and hogshead casks and transfers it to Spanish oak casks after Oloroso sherry for an additional nine months.

The whiskey is then transferred to large oak vessels called “tuns” for 3-4 months to allow the whisky from the individual barrels to “marry”.

Balvenie DoubleWood single malt whisky acquires its characteristic character by maturing in two different types of wood. Each stage gives different quality to the resulting single malt whisky.

Traditional barrels soften and add a delicate character, cherry wood adds depth and fullness of flavor, and the last months spent in our vats allow whisky to have a harmonious marriage.

NOSE: Sweet fruits and notes of Oloroso sherry, translated with honey and vanilla.

TASTE: Smooth and velvety, nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and a gently proportional layer of cherry.

FINISH: Long and warming
