St. Bernardus Wit is a traditional unfiltered Belgian wheat beer. It was developed in collaboration with Pierre Celis, the legendary master brewer who was the driving force behind the revival of white beer in the 60s. XX century.

Color: St. Bernardus Wit looks dignified and classic with its attractive, golden-yellow colour hidden under a subtle veil – he personifies authentic Belgian cloudy white beer.

Nature, taste, aromas: St.Bernardus Wit is famous for its spicy aftertastes of coriander and orange, with accents of spicy cloves, fragrant with fruit and citrus. These spicy herbs combine with the creamy texture of wheat to create a beer that is a masterful balance. The mild mouthfeel creates a wonderful interaction between the sweet malty flavor and the refreshing touches of acid to ensure an overall feeling of freshness.

Culinary: This extremely versatile beer can be combined with almost any recipe from anywhere in the world. Perhaps the most prominent role is the refreshing contrast when served with creamy foods – risotto, for example – or in combination with shellfish and white fish. Do you serve a slice of lemon with the fish? You can repeat it or lemon sauce or dressing with this beer with strong citrus notes.

PRODUCENT -  St. Bernardus

The brewing process of St.Bernardus beers begins with the addition of water to the brewing kettle and then some malt: barley, which has sprouted before being ground in the mill. We only use two types of malt. Pale malt is an ingredient in all our beers, but if we brew brown beers, dark roasted malt is also added to the brewhouse. This infusion is heated gradually over an hour and a half until it reaches a temperature of 78°. This process is also known as "scuffing". At this stage of the process, the malt is converted into fermentable sugars. Good to know: for our Witbier (white beer) we use light malt and wheat.
